In most cases yz zirconium crown is the best choice because it has the stongest core material that can be either bonded or cemented. And although a shoulder prep is recomended for additional strength it is not required. The overlay porcelain gives great life and vitality to the crown, yet is a low wear porcelain that wont damage opposing dention or bridgework. With these crowns the core can be half the thickness of a pressed core crown, that means less reduction and/ or thicker layered porcelain and added esthetics. And we are working hard to keep our prices about the same as a pressed core crown or PFM with porcelain shoulder and gold.
